MINDSET IS EVERYTHING

“Can I come over to find enough money laying around to buy myself a beer?”

I’m the one who always had money accumulating in my car, in every room of my home and even in my bank account. My siblings called me G-Money.

”Just this once, and be sure to stop collecting as soon as you reach the cost of a tall can!”

I’d hawk eyed him as he picked up his winnings, not because I didn’t want to share, but rather my fixed mindset would whisper, “You’re a failure! You know can’t grow your money by sharing it and yet you give when asked, like you’re some kinda philanthropist!”

Back then, the tiniest thought of my money going away from me brought a tailwind of panicky self dialogue. It didn’t matter that I had a good income, only bought the things that I needed and signed up for all the overtime that I could handle. My mindset around money always deduced to “I don’t have enough.”

When it came to teaching however, turns out I have a growth mindset.

It all started with my God given talent, an inner knowing, the ability to take information and apply it in my life.

I failed countless times.

But, the moment that I’d discover that a decision has betrayed me, I would go learn replacements. It was in those stormy disasters where I developed the attitude that I needed to move forward towards mastery.

The holistic power of the growth mindset is that you take your talents from God and you multiply them through trading knowledge among the brethren.

Do one thing everyday that scares you. Eleanor Roosevelt

At the family meetings, I ask the members

  1. How can we invest in each other?

  2. What goal presented itself with an impossible task?

I want my family members to know that they are successful at solving their own problems, knowing that leadership “feedback is confirmation that you know the path to your success.” By default, I model vulnerabilities as well as strengths to establish trust.

Obstacles abound

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. If you can believe, then you will know “the challenge is not to reveal your weakness, it’s to prove your strength.”

The most difficult obstacle, is the decision to believe, the act is merely tenacity.

This works for business.

it works for households.

To Your Success!
