A CUP OF CALM

Calming Lemon Balm Tea Blend

A favorite tea blend for my daily grind. Lemon verbena is mouth watering, adding the medicinal properties of lemon balm steeps a great cup of rest. I drink it often and it’s also my go-to when I want to mellow a hard to take medicinal herb.

This herbal tea formula blends the relaxing and soothing qualities of several herbs including lemon verbena, chamomile, lemon balm, rose, lavender and oat straw in a 1:1 ratio, that is 1 teaspoon of each herb into 1 cup of water.

Besides being simply delicious, I reach for this blend for mild digestive problems including a nervous stomach, gas, mild cramping or nausea.

My aromatic herbal tea making rule:

1 teaspoon of dried herb + steeped in 8 oz boiled water for 5 minutes = 1 cup of tea

In general, aromatic herbs don’t need a long steeping time. But in lemon balm’s case, steeping it for a longer time can increase its medicinal effects. More of the bitter qualities of the herb come out and the tea takes on a stronger taste. It also transforms into a stronger tea.

The resulting tea won’t just taste different, it will also feel very different in your body!
